Day 4: June 18, 2009

The team searches for an old friend in Camp Djabal, mixed emotions. Technology gives a group in the US an unfiltered look at current conditions and feelings.

  1. A friend called me this evening & asked what I had been up to. I told him how I’ve been watching the videos of the refugees from Darfur.
He said ,” How DEPRESSING ” & dropped the subject.
I couldn’t get to tell him how my daughter’s boyfriend ( whom he ate last Thanksgiving Dinner with) was facilitating the transmissions via satelite.
My friend is a temporary D.J. for Stanford University’s Radio Station who does programs of world music titled, ‘Global Warming’. I’m struck the people from Darfur are a mute subject to him. However, having know him for years I’m not surprised because he likes all the complimentary tickets & perks he gets from the university’s station. I intend to tell him my daughter’s boyfriend is transmitting videos of the refugees of the people from Darfur in their camps, later on. With his insatiable liking for music around the world, I thought he’d like the video of the girl leading the chanting chorus.
